Scale & Vintage Day Saturday 25th April 2026
Thirty members, along with family and friends, enjoyed what turned out to be an absolutely glorious day at the field. With more than 65 models present—covering everything from classic scale favourites to beautifully kept vintage airframes—the flightline and pits were buzzing from the moment the gates opened.
Two competitions took place: the Static Event and the Flying Event.
Static Winner: Ian Hammerton with his superb Russian‑built Lavochkin LA‑7, a model that drew a crowd all morning thanks to its finish and attention to detail.
Flying Winner: Chris Berry with his impressive F4U Corsair, powered by a Saito 84cc three‑cylinder petrol radial that sounded every bit as good as it looked in the air.
Members were also treated to a fine spread of sandwiches, cakes, sausage rolls, tea and coffee. A huge thank‑you goes to Angie Richards for providing the day's culinary delights and keeping everyone well fed.
A fantastic day all round, with great flying, great company, and great weather.

Winter Build Competition
This year's Winter Build competition was held Monday 13th April after the OGM.
There were 2 Entrees this year, as always the models were of a high standard, All the models this year were judged by the members themselves.
Aircraft are judged on 4 categories
- I) Build Complexity,
- ii) Construction Quality
- iii) Finish.
(Marks were awarded out of 10pts - scores were all totalled together to give a final scale for each entrée .
Winners this year were:
- 1st Place - Trevor White - Hawker Fury MK1 - K5674 (G-CBZP)
- 2nd: Tony Boucher - F7F Grumman Tigercat
During the walk around, Members were treated to a small spread of cakes & sandwiches supplied by Angie -
